How does setup work—and how much control do I have?
Flex Interviews allow you to scale feedback across the entire customer journey, so as you set up a new Flex Interview, you’ll start by thinking about the type of insights you want to collect—and the set of questions that will help uncover them. You’ll write and record your core interview questions. Depending on your program, that can be entirely self-service or supported by a Clozd consultant who helps you script and film a polished, purpose-built experience.

If you choose to include adaptive AI follow-ups, you can guide the experience in two ways. At the start of the interview setup, you can provide broader context—like company goals, product strategy, or customer personas—to help the AI understand what matters most to your team. Then, for each individual question, you decide whether follow-ups are enabled, how many of those questions the AI Interviewer can ask, and what intent or focus it should prioritize. Every setting is optional, clearly visible, and easy to configure. You’re in control from start to finish.
Can I test the AI before it goes live?
Yes. Most teams start by sending their Flex Interview to a few internal stakeholders to pressure test the question flow. This gives you a chance to see how the AI responds to different types of answers, make sure the follow-ups align with your intent, and confirm that the overall experience feels right for your audience. You can refine the number of follow-ups, adjust your phrasing, or update the context at any time. We also provide best practices and guidance to help you launch with confidence.

It analyzes not just the answer to the current question, but everything the customer has said up to that point—so each follow-up is grounded in the full conversation, not just a single sentence. You guide the AI by providing context and intent during setup: You can add company background, product focus, or strategic goals for the overall interview, and tailor intent for each individual question.

How do I train the AI on what matters to my company?
You don’t need to retrain a model—you just guide it with context. During setup, you can give the AI Interviewer a clear understanding of what matters by adding background at two levels. First, you can provide high-level context about your company, product, industry, or goals. Then, for each question, you define the intent and specific types of insights you want the AI to pursue.

That input shapes how the AI asks follow-ups and helps it stay focused, relevant, and aligned with your priorities. It’s a lightweight way to customize the experience—without needing to be an AI expert.
Do I have to use AI in every Flex Interview?
Nope. AI follow-ups are completely optional—and you’re in control the whole way. Some teams use them for every interview to unlock deeper insights at scale. Others activate them only for specific programs or questions where extra context makes a big difference. You can enable or disable follow-ups per question, adjust how many the AI is allowed to ask, and refine its intent along the way. Flex Interviews are built to adapt to the goals of your team and the preferences of your customers.
How do you make sure the AI is secure, accurate, and on-brand?
Clozd’s AI Interviewer is purpose-built for customer-facing research—so control, clarity, and brand alignment are built into the experience. It uses a customized prompt developed from Clozd’s proven qualitative research methodology, drawing on the structure, tone, and best practices we’ve refined through more than 50,000 interviews.

You guide the AI through the context you provide during setup, and follow-ups are always grounded in the customer’s actual responses—they’re never random or off-topic. After an interview is completed, every AI-generated follow-up can be reviewed in full. If something doesn’t match your expectations, it can be removed from the transcript before it’s shared more broadly. And most critically, your data is never used to train external models—so your insights stay private, and your customers’ trust stays intact.
